Paintings 2013-15 by Michael Mascha.

Michael's first expressions on large canvas are an exercise in chaos and control. The canvas is placed on the floor and in the initial chaotic layer, paint is dripped, splattered and smeared from all sides making the paintings truly omni-directional.

Additional brushwork is in dialog with the original layer of chaos and a power washer is sometimes used to soften discord. Multi layered and seemingly spontaneous the paintings try to maintained a balance of chaos and control and should be considered as environmental paintings providing the space that they control with a sense of comfort similar to looking at the sky through a tree.
